I’m pleased to announce that I, representing Lowcountry Vistas Native Landscape Design, was one of two local landscape designers that were recently featured in Charleston’s primary newspaper, the Post and Courier!
In the article, I gave a general overview of my native, low-maintenance landscape design philosophy, and I explained how my residential landscape designs harmonize properties with the beautiful natural landscape of the Charleston area and the Lowcountry as a whole. I also tried to make clear that, end of the day, my job is to harmonize all of the elements customers want in their yards (pools, patios, fences, and structures) with nature.
As an example of my design style, the author showed a photo of one of my landscaping projects “flowing” into the marsh at a Mt. Pleasant residential property. (I like to return to properties a couple of years later to see the final results, after everything has had time to get established.) Sometimes, former customers invite me to dinner, which gives me the opportunity to take sunset photos like the one below:

The backyard landscaping flowing into the marsh at this property in Mt. Pleasant made a great sunset photo, albeit a little dark.
One way I love to harmonize properties with Lowcountry marshland is to make the landscaping flow to the edge of it using a combination of coastal grasses, scrub palms, junipers, and sea myrtles, as pictured above. Combinations such as this provide a beautiful contrast of colors, shapes, and textures.
It’s important to note that I also design man-made landscaping elements, including hardscaping and retaining walls, as seen in the featured image of this blog post. The look of these elements contribute significantly to the overall look of the property.
As I also hinted at in the article, customers often praise my management of landscape installations in Charleston as much as they praise my landscape designs. Landscape installations often include managing the installation of pools, patios, fences, and other man-made elements in addition to plants. In the following 5 star review, you can see a homeowner’s praise of my management of his large Mt. Pleasant landscape design project. The project required the installation of many man-made elements such as those shown in the pictures he uploaded to the review.
Being featured in the Post and Courier is a great honor. I hope that future customers will be as satisfied as past and current ones!
