Although it’s not officially spring yet, spring flowers are in bloom here in the South Carolina Lowcountry. The following shots are from my 2016 collection of pretty spring blooms from one of the prettiest cities in America, Charleston, SC.
This camellia on Daniel Island gave sustenance to a pollen-hungry bee on one of the first truly warm days of 2016.
Azaleas in the Charleston area haven’t had quite the pop this year, as some of their early blooms were damaged by a few consecutive freezing nights in February. However, many later blooms have thrived, such as these in Mt. Pleasant.
And this one in my mom’s yard on James Island.
I love tulip trees. I caught this one in West Ashley exhibiting the distinctive shape and color of its flowers.
I installed this trellis and jassamine on James Island two years ago. It appears that it’s going to produce a bumper crop of flowers this year.
This angel wing begonia on my buddy’s porch in West Ashley glistened one sunny afternoon.
